Expert in Chinese Healthcare System and Quality Improvement
Iris Shi is an internationally recognized expert in the China healthcare industry. She has more than 15 years’ experience in both public and private hospitals in China, recently serving in the prestigious Shanghai United Family hospital in the areas of government relations, risk management, quality, safety, service excellence, ensuring the hospital complied with all relevant laws and regulations internationally and locally, and led the hospital through re-accreditation by the Joint Commission International (JCI). Shanghai United Family Hospital is a member of the United Family Healthcare group of hospitals and clinics in China, a subsidiary of the Chindex Corporation, until recently a NASDAQ listed company (CHDX). Ms. Shi has numerous qualifications including a Master’s degree in Healthcare Management, certification by the US Healthcare Quality Certification Commission, and is currently undertaking further postgraduate study in International Public Health at the State University of New York. She is often approached by public hospitals in China to help consult on hospital quality reform. Iris is passionate about bringing a higher level of healthcare to the people of China by bridging the different healthcare models between the West and East, an important part of which is how to best utilize the current China public health insurance scheme and its relationship with commercial insurance.
